Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny sleepy town. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar to its significance. Many people believe that it's an island located that lies west of Montreal, but it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities of Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently cited, however her short time in the city wasn't. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. Then, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she had. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. The moment I outgrew my male counterpart and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the instance of Brugel, it was a suggestion from her high school teacher in drama. Teacher who recommended she try getting a part in the school's annual play. She was able to audition and be cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Over the last 20 years, her work has been featured on both the small and large screen. She gained the most recognition when she landed her part as Rita in the acclaimed television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale the series filming over 10 years ago.
